NEW DROPTOP BENTLEY

Bentley is ready to celebrate with the Bentley Supersports Ice Speed Record Convertible ($TBA). Limited to just 100 cars worldwide, this beastly drop-top features a 6.0 L, twin turbo-charged W12 Flex Fuel engine that runs on either gasoline or E85 bio-ethanol or any combination of the two and is good for 631 hp. Paired with a Quickshift six-speed automatic transmission, the Continental can go from 0-60mph in 3.8 seconds and from 0-100 in just 9.5 seconds; other features include all-wheel drive, a new exhaust system, diamond-quilted Alcantara interior accents, an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a 30GB hard drive, and the ability to keep you warm even though your roof is made of fabric.

I got this one coming too.

BENTLEY HAS A RECALL

Luxury carmaker Bentley is recalling 820 cars worldwide over fears that its famous "Winged B" hood ornament could injure people in an accident because it might not properly retract.

Bentley Motors' European head office in Berlin said Thursday the recall affects 620 cars in the United States and Canada and 200 in Europe who added the raised hood ornament as an option on Arnage, Brooklands and Azure models made between October 2006 and March 2009.
The company says no injuries have been reported but a Bentley dealer noticed the spring mechanism under
the ornament has a tendency to corrode and might not always function properly.
The fear is that if the hood ornament does not retract, it could increase the risk of injury to a pedestrian in the event of a crash, the U.S. Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on its website. Maybe it's not such a bad thing to hit by a Bentley ornament. You could end up with a good payday.

NEW 2011 BENTLEY CONTINENTAL

The 2011 Bentley Continental GT ($TBA) has one tough act to follow. The first redesign of Bentley's most accessible ride since its 2003 introduction, the 2011 GT is powered by a twin-turbocharged, FlexFuel-capable W12 good for 567hp, a 0-60 time of 4.4 seconds, and a top speed of 198 mph, both also partially due to the new Quickshift transmission that also offers double downshifts. Other features include a new body with more upright grille and a "double horseshoe" rear profile, LED daytime-running lights, "cobra" seats designed for increased rear cabin space, a new Google Maps-capable touchscreen infotainment system, 20-inch wheels, and an all-wheel drive system with a 40:60 rear-torque bias. No word on whether they'll be offering a special "Stallworth" edition with a pedestrian pre-attached to the hood. mY CAR IS ON ORDER.

WEDNESDAY WHEELS: 2011 BENTLEY CONTINENTAL SUPERSPORT CONVERTIBLE

The 2011 Bentley Continental Supersports Convertible is the soft-top sibling to the marque's latest coupe, packing the same twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter W12 as the hard-top and putting out 621 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. Also like the fixed roof variant, the Supersports Convertible can run on either gasoline or E85, returning a 0-60 mph run of 3.9 seconds and a top speed on 202 mph no matter what fuel you choose to top up with. I already have it on order.
