IT DOESN'T PAY TO SUPERSIZE
If you want to go "large", beware - upsizing your fries in fast-food restaurants does not guarantee you much for your extra money.
University student and McDonald's regular Allen Hsu wanted to find out if he was getting value for money when he up-sized his medium McDonald's combo to the large size after he became concerned at the similarity between the two sizes.
The 18-year-old counted the number of french fries in three packs of medium McDonald's fries and three packs of large fries and found his initial suspicions proved right - there were only 14 more french fries in a large size of McDonald's fries compared with the medium size.
Mr Hsu also found one pack of large fries had only one more chip than one of the medium servings.
"It's 70 cents extra to upgrade the fries so my friends and I decided to see if it was worth it. I don't think it's worth it any more for an extra three or four fries," said Mr Hsu.
Independent tests conducted by the Herald yielded similar results to Mr Hsu's experiment, finding there was only a 12 french fry difference between the medium and large sizes at McDonald's and, in terms of weight, only a 13g difference.
Boy everyone is getting over and I love Mcdonalds fries. Oh well medium for me.

WHAT'S IN TACO BELL 'S MEAT
USA Today and others are reporting of a lawsuit against Taco Bell for the meat in their Tacos. The suit claims that the taco meat at Taco Bell is only 36% beef, which is less than the USDA minimum of 40% for taco meat filling. The suit seeks to have Taco Bell either rename their products or add more beef. Besides the fact that Taco Bell could be below the 40% standard, there is also the aspect that most people are not aware of the USDA labeling definitions for meat filling being only 40% meat. People are also unaware that Taco Bells labels their Taco meat as beef filling. Although I think most people know that fast food is not good quality food. However, Taco Bell is going below already low standards to qualify for the "Where's the beef ?" lawsuit.
This is why I don't eat Taco Bell. If I want to go somewhere and not know what I'm eating I will just go to the local Chinese restaurant.

IF YOU LIKE MRS WINNERS GOOD LUCK FINDING ONE
Massive closings of Mrs. Winners were reported in October, 2010. The company posted this statement on its website on October 19, 2010:
"To our valued customers: We have been forced to close a number of our Mrs. Winner’s company-operated restaurants which have long been operating unprofitably. The surviving core of 16 company restaurants, along with our 15 franchised restaurants, combine to provide us with a profitable base from which to retrench and to retool the Mrs. Winner’s brand. After years of battling so many problem locations, we can now finally focus on opportunities and not just problems. And we will do so with a renewed focus on restoring and rebuilding Mrs. Winner’s. We have an action plan that includes new and exciting products in addition to the proud staples of our past. Please know that Mrs. Winner’s is not going away. Instead, know that better days are ahead. We may be a smaller brand, today than yesterday; however, that will allow us to be much more nimble and proactive in introducing the new products, new design and, other initiatives in the pipeline.
Now I couldn't find the statement on the official Mrs Winners website and calls were not returned. So I guess I will have to get my super cinnamon swirl somewhere else.

ARTIST SAYS MCDONALDS FOOD WILL NOT ROT
Looking almost as fresh as the day it was bought, this McDonald's Happy Meal is in fact a staggering six months old.
Photographed every day for the past half a year by Manhattan artist Sally Davies the kids meal of fries and burger is without a hint of mould or decay.
In a work entitled The Happy Meal Project, Mrs Davies, 54, has charted the seemingly indestructible fast food meals progress as it refuses to yield to the forces of nature.
Expecting the food to begin moulding after a few days, Mrs Davies' surprise turned to shock as the fries and burger still had not shown any signs of decomposition after two weeks.
'It was then that I realised that something strange might be going on with this food that I had bought,' she explained.
'The fries shrivelled slightly as did the burger patty, but the overall appearance of the food did not change as the weeks turned to months.
'And now, at six months old, the food is plastic to the touch and has an acrylic sheen to it.
'The only change that I can see is that it has become hard as a rock.
Hey while posting this story a commentor makes a good point to the fact that this story is a waste of time. This is what a poster wrote:
"Wow, what a phenomenal level of ignorance.
ANY food that is dried will not rot.
The meal is air dried and therefor will last almost indefinitely.
Shame on the author for trying to sensationalize this.
Shame on McDonald's and Yahoo for not pointing this out.
Shame on all the people that have commented and shown their ignorance.
We use dried foods every day:
- beef jerky
- dried fruits and vegetables (raisins, sun-dried tomatoes etc.)
- all boxed pasta
- all types of flour
- powdered milk
- all powdered foods and drinks
- tea
- rice
and on and on and on.
Makes a lot of sense to me and I tend to agree.

JAMAL MASHBURNE IS SURE NOT HUNGRY
Mashburn did have a successful stint in the NBA with averages of 19.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game, and making the All-Star team in 2003. Not to mention, he did make a total of $75,623,634 during his 13 NBA seasons and hasn't blown it all like some of his former NBA pals.
According to Jamal this is where his money went, I started with ESPN four years ago. Lots of people don't know but I was a communications major in college. I didn't anticipate doing what I studied in college, but when I finished my basketball career it made sense. I've always been in business and own franchises of Papa John's, Dunkin' Donuts and Outback Steakhouse, as well as car dealerships. I own over 34 Outbacks, 37 Papa John's and dealerships in Kentucky.
Wow he can get free cars and drive them to hhis resturants. That's how you supposed to end your NBA career.

KFC PAYS TO PUT A DOUBLE DOWN ON YOUR ASS
Students on a Louisville, Ky. university campus serve as "human billboards, " advertising the KFC Double Down sandwich on the backsides of their sweat pants. To promote the now-famous bun-less sandwich, KFC is using the head-turning tactic to reach one of its key targets - college-age males and they get paid $500. Hey I will put a double down on my ass for that.
