Tangled went from number twop to number one over the weekend. I should have known I totally forgot about the Disney movie. They are always good for making money. Here are the totals:

A "smart" TV that lets users conduct searches and view Internet video and information related to the television program that's on. Or viewers could simply devote the entire TV screen to Web surfing instead of channel surfing.
PARTNERSHIP: Google is providing the software, while Sony will make the TVs with Intel chips, and Logitech will supply a special remote control and wireless keyboard.
AVAILABILITY: This fall in U.S. only at Best Buy stores, with no pricing immediately announced.

JoinAfrica aims to bring a world of information to a continent whose population only has 8.7% Internet penetration right now. At the core of JoinAfrica is the belief that providing basic Internet is as essential to society as clean water and clean power.
English plans to kick off the nonprofit/for-profit hybrid this summer and begin creating partnerships between JoinAfrica and local African for-profit telcos. JoinAfrica would first branch out existing Web connections in villages using, for example, simple WiMAC hubs. Through these hubs, JoinAfrica would provide residents with free basic Web service, including access to email, Google, Wikipedia, and various news sources. Downloads of data-rich video, porn, or other non-essential sites would be limited (similar to what libraries in the U.S. do now), via a process called “bandwidth shaping.” Local for-profits would charge for upgraded access and faster connection speeds, and English is also searching for ways to make sure these local companies continuously improve the service and lay more fiber.
Must be nice but how about frfee internet here in the US. I'm tired of paying that high ass bill.

Andsticking wit the movie themed blog posts, what if you could influence the person on screen? That’s what the folks behind Last Call are aiming to do with their interactive horror film. Audience members will be asked to supply their cell numbers before the movie, and at one point, a phone number is selected at random from the list, and will be called. Voice recognition software will then listen to the person’s commands and the story will unfold based on their instructions. Of course, instructions will most likely be the usual things like “run, stay, turn right” or something along those lines. It’s a cool concept, and will be interesting to see how it’s implemented. What would happen if the person left his phone on silent, and didn’t pick up, though? Or if you don't have a cell phone like me. Can I give them my beeper number and call back from the pay phone in the lobby?
