Recent figures from the the federal Department of Education say that more than 200,000 students each year are subjected to corporal punishment. According to the Congressional testimony, up to 20,000 students a year seek medical attention after the event. Generally, the injuries involve bruising and broken blood vessels.
When fashion designer Marc Ecko heard that corporal punishment was still legal, he decided to act. Starting today, he’s putting up billboards and launching a website and mobile app that he hopes will allow tens of thousands of young people to bombard lawmakers with e-mails, faxes and phone calls demanding change. “There are just certain habits and cycles that are worth breaking,” he said. And on that note I thik this guy is an idiot. That's what's wrongg with kids today. They are not getting spanked enough in school. When I was in school you got whipped by the teacher and when your parents found out you got whipped again. That's how we used to roll.
A Pennsylvania boy who was 11 years old when he allegedly shot and killed his father’s pregnant fiancee could find himself being the youngest person ever sentenced to life without parole. Prosecutors allege that Jordan Brown, now 13, shot and killed 26-year-old Kenzie Houk as she slept in her home in Lawrence County, near Pittsburgh, in February, 2009. Houk was pregnant with a nearly full-term child at the time. Brown was charged with two counts of homicide.

90 dumbass girls at Frayser High in Memphis, Tennessee are either pregnant or have had a baby this school year. I bet you can't find 90 boys willing to take the blame for this stupidness.
More than two decades ago, a newborn sick with fever was snatched from a New York City hospital, her frantic mother returning to the emergency room to find an empty crib. Police said the baby - now a woman - has been found.
It was a remarkable reunion after Carlina White tracked down the mother she was stolen from 23 years ago when the then-19-day-old was taken from Harlem Hospital. Now, Joy White and Carlina are back together again. Joy was 16 years old when she and her husband, Carl Tyson, took their daughter to the hospital on Aug. 4, 1987. Two hours later, they were devastated to learn that their baby was gone, lifted out of the pediatrics ward.
Carlina is now 23 and was raised as Nejdra Nance in Bridgeport, Connecticut and Georgia, while her real mother lived with her grief in the Bronx. As a teenager, Carlina came to believe she was not related to the family that was raising her. She began to check missing children websites, and she eventually found her own case. She called the website for help, and they called Joy, the mother who had kept her baby's picture on display all these years. "She said she just had a feeling, she felt different from the people raising her," said Nance's maternal grandmother, Elizabeth White, 71. "She searched, and then she found Joy." DNA testing proved Carlina was the stolen child. Criminal charges for the abduction are possible, as there's no statute of limitations. Meanwhile, after decades apart, the reunion has gone well. Well at least the story had a happy ending.

Principal Rita Harper was robbed right in front of her school, Stone Mill Elementary in Stone Mountain. To add insult to injury a school age child is accused of doing it.
Principal Rita Harper was getting out of her car in the school parking lot at around 6:45AM when she was jumped and robbed. Many parents were informed about the robbery when they picked up their kids from school Monday. Maleika Vaughner picked up her five year old son after his first day at school. "My son just started kindergarten here and this is the school he attends and it makes me a little nervous about the neighborhood," she said. Another parent, Tameka Best picked up her daughter. "It's very sad and disappointing that something like that can happen on the first day of school," she said. It was the first day of school for DeKalb County Schools but two school age children didn't go to school. Shortly after the principal was robbed, DeKalb County Police were called to the Elite at Stone Mountain apartment complex across from the school. There was a burglary in progress. DeKalb County Police spokesperson Mekka Parish said when police arrived at the apartment complex they saw two teenagers coming out of an apartment carrying a flat screen television. Parish said one of the boys, who is 15, had evidence that belonged to principal Harper. School officials confirmed it was her cell phone. The 15 year old and a 13 year old boy were charged in the burglary. Parish said the 13 year old was not involved in the robbery of principal Harper. Principal Harper was treated and released from the hospital. According to school officials she is more determined to get back to work. Parent Tameka Best asked the question everyone is wondering about the two boys: "Why weren't they in school today?" Cause they were out robbin your ass.
Apparently Abby Sunderland and her dumbass parents though it would be a good idea for her to travel around the world in a boat by herself. But rescue teams are heading Friday to a remote area in the Indian Ocean to fetch athe stranded 16-year old California sailor girl who lost contact as she tried to circumnavigate the globe in her yacht. Hey why don't you do normal teenaged stuff like get your drivers license or go to the movies and play on myspace. I hope they charge the parents for the cost of the rescue.

A New Jersey public school principal has had enough of the harm — from sexual predators or mean girls — that can come to young teens on sites like Facebook and MySpace. So Anthony Orsini, principal at Benjamin Franklin Middle School in Ridgewood, N.J., wants kids blocked from the sites at school and at home.
Orsini told “Good Morning America” today that the online taunting used to be limited to students in eighth grade or higher. Now he’s seeing kids as young as fourth grade creating Facebook pages to bash a classmate. “It’s become meaner and meaner and they don’t understand they aren’t socially and emotionally ready to understand. We see the times that things are posted on line — 2:30 in the morning, 1:30 in the morning, students are supposed to be asleep at that time.” You can try but you can't stop the social networking trend. That's like trying to win the war on drugs. You can slow it down but demand is too high.
