IT'S BLACK HISTORY MONTH SO HERE IS SOMETHING TO REMIND US HOW FAR WE HAVE COME OR NOT

A surveillance video shot almost a year ago apparently shows Houston police officers relentlessly beating, kicking and stomping on a teen burglary suspect was just released to the public
The footage was released by Quanell X, a Houston activist, on Wednesday. It was shown on ABC's Houston station, KTRK-TV. The video shows Chad Holley, who was 15 years old at the time, running along a metal fence away from police officers when a police car speeds towards him and cuts him off. The car slams into Holley. Holley's body goes flying across the car onto the ground. His body rolls and he ends up on his stomach. He clamps his hands over his head. Policemen run up to him and begin attacking him.

The boy remains limp on the grass while police officers kick him from all sides. Only his feet move, apparently in reaction to the officers' kicks. One police officer then begins stomping on Holley's feet, and some officers kneel down on the ground beside him and start punching him. After being beaten for about two minutes by several police officers, Holley is handcuffed, and then picked up and thrown against the back of the police car.
Holley was a sophomore at Elsick High School in Houston at the time.
And that is our quick black history lesson. Nothing much has changed.

WHAT'S IN TACO BELL 'S MEAT

USA Today and others are reporting of a lawsuit against Taco Bell for the meat in their Tacos. The suit claims that the taco meat at Taco Bell is only 36% beef, which is less than the USDA minimum of 40% for taco meat filling. The suit seeks to have Taco Bell either rename their products or add more beef. Besides the fact that Taco Bell could be below the 40% standard, there is also the aspect that most people are not aware of the USDA labeling definitions for meat filling being only 40% meat. People are also unaware that Taco Bells labels their Taco meat as beef filling. Although I think most people know that fast food is not good quality food. However, Taco Bell is going below already low standards to qualify for the "Where's the beef ?" lawsuit.
This is why I don't eat Taco Bell. If I want to go somewhere and not know what I'm eating I will just go to the local Chinese restaurant.

THESE ARE SOME EXPENSIVE SONGS

Jammie Thomas-Rasset has spent the last few years in court debating that question. The Minnesota mother of four is being penalized for illegally downloading and sharing 24 songs on the peer-to-peer file-sharing network Kazaa in 2006, but how much she owes the record labels has been in question. The jury in her third trial has just ruled that Thomas-Rasset should pay Capitol Records $1.5 million, CNET reports, which breaks down to $62,500 per song. It's a heavy penalty considering the 24 tunes would only cost approximately $24 on iTunes, which was Thomas-Rasset' argument, too.
Thanks to Thomas-Rasset's colorful case, she has become the public face of the record industry's battle with illegal downloaders. In her first trial, in 2007, the jury demanded she pay $222,000 for violating the copyright on more than 1,700 songs by Green Day, Aerosmith and Richard Marx, to name a few. (Marx said he was "ashamed" to be associated with the "farcical" prosecution of an illegal downloader.) Thomas-Rasset maintained she wasn't the computer user who did the file sharing, and her legal team cited an error in jury instruction to secure a second trial in 2009 that ended with a much harsher result: an astronomical fine of $1.92 million. However, earlier this year a U.S. District Court judge found the $1.92 million penalty against Thomas-Rasset to be "monstrous and shocking" and "gross injustice" before lowering it to $54,000, or $2,250 a song. Thomas-Rasset and her legal team decided to appeal that decision, too.
So the moral might be don't download music illegally but I'm going to keep snatching songs as long as there is an interner.

WATCH YOUR FOUR YEAR OLD OR THEY MIGHT GET SUED

The ruling by the judge, Justice Paul Wooten of State Supreme Court in Manhattan, did not find that the girl was liable, but merely permitted a lawsuit brought against her, another boy and their parents to move forward.

The suit that Justice Wooten allowed to proceed claims that in April 2009, Juliet Breitman and Jacob Kohn, who were both 4, were racing their bicycles, under the supervision of their mothers, Dana Breitman and Rachel Kohn, on the sidewalk of a building on East 52nd Street. At some point in the race, they struck an 87-year-old woman named Claire Menagh, who was walking in front of the building and, according to the complaint, was “seriously and severely injured,” suffering a hip fracture that required surgery. She died three months later.
Her estate sued the children and their mothers, claiming they had acted negligently during the accident. In a response, Juliet’s lawyer, James P. Tyrie, argued that the girl was not “engaged in an adult activity” at the time of the accident — “She was riding her bicycle with training wheels under the supervision of her mother” — and was too young to be held liable for negligence.
In legal papers, Mr. Tyrie added, “Courts have held that an infant under the age of 4 is conclusively presumed to be incapable of negligence.” (Rachel and Jacob Kohn did not seek to dismiss the case against them.)
But Justice Wooten declined to stretch that rule to children over 4. On Oct. 1, he rejected a motion to dismiss the case because of Juliet’s age, noting that she was three months shy of turning 5 when Ms. Menagh was struck, and thus old enough to be sued.
Mr. Tyrie “correctly notes that infants under the age of 4 are conclusively presumed incapable of negligence,” Justice Wooten wrote in his decision, referring to the 1928 case. “Juliet Breitman, however, was over the age of 4 at the time of the subject incident. For infants above the age of 4, there is no bright-line rule.”
The New York Law Journal reported the decision on Thursday
What is this world coming to when a judge allows a four year old to get sued. Now we gonna have to insure toddlers.

WHO KNEW THE STRIP CLUB WAS SO DANGEROUS

A man who sued after being struck in the face by a strip dancer's shoe at the Cheetah nightclub, seriously injuring his eye, has won a $650,000 judgment.
Personal injury litigator Lake "Trey" Lytal said Thursday that while the club's insurance company agreed to the amount, getting the money to Cheetah's patron Michael Ireland still is not a done deal and may require more litigation.
Ireland, a roofer, has experienced chronic double vision since stripper Sakeena Shageer's shoe made contact with his eye at the suburban West Palm Beach club in September 2008, Lytal said.
Shageer said she was walking along the bar, with her feet near patrons' heads, when she spun around in reaction to someone touching her, Lytal said. Shageer struck Ireland accidentally, he said.
Ireland suffered broken bones around his eye and in his nose and now has permanent double vision, Lytal said. He also has dizziness - "not a good thing for a roofer."
Strip club lawsuits have centered on the hazard of sky-high platform shoes strippers frequently wear. In New York, a man sued after a stripper giving him a lap dance swiveled and smacked him in the face with her shoe. A Broward man sued after a woman's stiletto flew off during a pole dance, shattering a mirror and cutting him
Wow if I knew the strip club was this dangerous I would have quit going long time ago.

MORE TROUBLE FOR EDDIE LONG

Our favorite muscle bound preacher has yet another lawsuit. Embattled Bishop Eddie Long took a hit Monday as a new suit was filed, ordering him and two others to pay $1.9 million for defaulting on a property loan The suit filed Monday asked the DeKalb County State Court to order Long and the others to pay off the debt in 10 days or incur additional fines and attorneys’ fees.

This is the fifth lawsuit filed against the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church leader in less than a month. The other four suits, which were also filed against the DeKalb County megachurch, accuse Long of coercing four young men into sex in exchange for cars, lavish trips and jobs. The AJC is the only media outlet to obtain the latest suit. The financial suit filed Monday names only Long and does not include the church.
Long’s spokesman Art Franklin and his attorney Jason Wright declined to comment Monday. My question is what good is aspokesperson if he never comments about anything.

THE RACISM IS EVERYWHERE:MAN WINS 1.5 MILLION LAWSUIT AGAINST DEBT COLLECTION COMPANY

Bank of America has fired a debt collection agency after several of its operators were caught using racist and obscene phone calls to collect debts from bank customers.
"What's up, you f---ing n---r?" said one of the collection agents in a message to 32-year old Allen Jones of Dallas, who owed $81 on his Bank of America credit card

Jones said the calls continued even after he told the debt collection company he had paid his credit card bill.
The calls came from the Harlingen, Texas office of Advanced Call Center Technologies. ACT is a Philadelphia-based company that provides collection services for a number of major corporations.

Jones saved the taped messages and hired lawyers to sue ACT. A jury in Texas found the both the debt collectors and the corporation responsible and awarded Jones more than $l.5 million.
Good for him. Companies have to realize any kind of racism or sexism or discrimination canot be tolerated. It could be you next time.

HEY I'M YOUR DAD AND I'M SUING YOU

According to TMZ LeBron James and his mother Gloria James are being sued for millions by a man who claims he tried to prove he's the NBA star's biological father -- but LeBron and his mom tampered with the evidence in a diabolical cover-up.
The lawsuit is explosive -- in it, 55-year-old Leicester Bryce Stovell claims he met Gloria in a D.C. area bar in 1984 ... and had unprotected sex with her on the night they met. He later found out she was 15-years-old at the time ... he was 29.
According to the docs -- filed recently in federal court -- Gloria has spent the rest of her life shielding LeBron from the truth.  Hey just get them both on the Maury show. He will get to  the bottom of this.

I WILL JUST SAY IT, THIS BODYGUARD IS GAY

Ex-cop FERNANDO FLORES, 29, stormed out after allegedly facing a series of bizarre come-ons.

He told pals Britney, 28, often paraded naked in front of him and beckoned him into her bedroom. He is now considering suing her.
A pal revealed yesterday: "She was always giving him the come on and he felt if he didn't reciprocate he could lose his job. He finally handed in his notice last week and is considering legal action."

The friend added: "Working for Britney is tough. She's a nightmare to deal with and her emotions are totally out of control.
"She runs round the house naked and yelling at staff.
"All her guards knew they could be removed if they looked at her the wrong way. Unfortunately for Fernando, she took a liking to him, so he was under more pressure than most. He wanted to be a good security guard and look after her but the situation became unbearable."
The last straw came when Britney's dad JAMIE - who is in legal control of her and can hire and fire staff - kicked off after she left her Los Angeles home without underwear.
Last month Jamie banned his daughter from going out without a bra and told her security team to enforce the rule. She was then pictured leaving a Hollywood restaurant without wearing knickers. The source revealed: "It was embarrassing to tell her to put on underwear. Some guys would do it but others were too ashamed.
Jamie went mental when he saw the pictures and Fernando was made the fall guy. He was not fired but told he was to blame. He had had enough."

The divorced dad-of-two is considering a multi-million dollar lawsuit against Britney, claiming her sexual harassment forced him out.
Another ex-Britney minder, Tony Barretto, went to an LA court in 2007 complaining about the her erratic behaviour and insistence on walking around naked.

Like I said these guys must be totally gay. I don't care hpw unstable she is, I would have have took her offers sexed her up and then got paid for all my anguish. Didn't they learn anything from Kevin Federline.

CITIBANKS SAYS YOUR TOO SEXY TO WORK HERE

The 33-year-old Queens woman says she was told by her bosses to tone down her wardrobe, including form-fitting clothes like turtlenecks, pencil skirts, fitted suits and heels.

According to Lorenzana, she requested to be transfered to another branch in May 2009. After iniitally being turned down, her wish was granted in July 2009 when she was moved to the Rockfeller Center branch, but was fired in August 2009 for alleged poor job performance.
Lorenzana has since landed another banking job. She says she has not changed her wardrobe and recieved no complaints from her new coworkers.
She is suing for lost wages and emotional distress.
In a statement, Citibank said they cannot comment on the suit in detail. But the company did state: "We believe this lawsuit is without merit and we will defend against it vigorously. [...] Citi is committed to fostering a culture of inclusion and providing a respectful environment in the workplace. We have a strong commitment to diversity and we do not condone, or tolerate, discrimination within our business for any reason."
Personally I think she is a little over dressed. Wear a few mini skirts anfd you got a job with me.

GOOGLE MAPPED OUT A LAWSUIT

A pedestrian injured by a motorist while following an online route has filed a lawsuit claiming Google Inc. supplied unsafe directions.

Lauren Rosenberg filed a lawsuit on Thursday seeking more than $100,000 in U.S. District Court in Utah. It also named a motorist she says hit her.
Rosenberg used her phone in January to download directions from one end of Park City to the other.
Google Maps led her to a four-lane boulevard without sidewalks that was "not reasonably safe for pedestrians," according to the lawsuit filed by the Northridge, Calif., resident.
The case has become a sensation on tech blogs, websites and cable television channels, with critics assailing the woman for ignoring her own safety to blindly follow online directions. Her lawyer, Allen Young, said the truth was different.
Rosenberg believed she could reach a sidewalk on the other side of Deer Valley Drive and tried to cross the boulevard, but didn't even make it to the median, he said.
She was struck by a speeding car on a pitch-black night and received multiple bone fractures that required six weeks of rehabilitation, Young added.
"We think there's enough fault to go around, but Google had some responsibility to direct people correctly or warn them," Young said. "They created a trap with walking instructions that people rely on. She relied on it and thought she should cross the street."
Rosenberg is seeking compensation for medical bills, plus more for lost wages and punitive damages. The lawsuit provided no other information about the woman, who has been misidentified online as a Los Angeles publicist by the same name.
Young said the woman is a native of Northridge in her mid-20s and is unemployed. No phone listing could be found for her.
Good luck looks like she's looking for a quick payday.

STEVEN SEGAL ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE LAW

Action movie star Steven Seagal was sued for $1 million on Monday by a 23-year-old former personal assistant for sexual harassment and illegal sex trafficking.

Kayden Nguyen filed the suit in Los Angeles Superior Court alleging the actor "treated Ms. Nguyen as his sex toy" after she was hired as his "executive assistant" through a February Craigslist ad. She said she was told the job would involve clerical duties such as filing, scheduling and answering telephones.
An attorney who has represented Seagal in other litigation, Richard L. Charnley, did not immediately return a call for comment.
According to the suit, "Ms. Nguyen believed that she had found the dream job of a lifetime." But in her final interview with him he asked, "Are you sure you wouldn't mind helping my wife around the house if she asked you to do something?," according to the suit.
The suit states Nguyen later was flown to rural Louisiana to live in his house, and on the first night he fondled her.
Danm Steven is it that bad that you have to kidnapp women now? What ever happen to his model wife? Strange

ANYONE CAN SUE: TOWING COMPANY OVER FACEBOOK PAGE

In February, Justin Kurtz began a Facebook page called Kalamazoo (Michigan) Residents Against T&J Towing for the purpose of letting people tell their stories about encounters with T&J. Seems no one has anything good to say about T&J's towing practices, and the company wants all that bad press to stop. Somehow they think that will happen by suing Kurtz, a Western Michigan University student, for $750,000.
Hey if the student and all the people are not lying against the towing company, they are probably wasting their money and I'm sure if they win that guy will not give them any money.
