A South African judge has dropped drug charges against American socialite Paris Hilton after she was arrested for possession of marijuana at the World Cup.
Hilton and her friend were accused of possessing a marijuana joint at the Brazil-Netherlands quarter-final in the southern city of Port Elizabeth.
Her friend, 31-year-old Jennifer Rovero, was found guilty of possession of marijuana.
She appeared in one of South Africa's dedicated World Cup courts around 12:20 am (local time) as "Accused No. 1" in the case.
She appeared relaxed throughout the brief hearing, wearing a beige dress and a glittery necklace with her hair in two ponytails.
"The charges against you, Accused No. 1, are dropped," magistrate Xolile Dlulisa said.
"Thank you, your honour," Hilton replied and left the court after the three-minute hearing.
Rovero was ordered to either spend 30 days in jail or pay a 1,000 rand ($152) fine. She paid the fine.
Only rich people can get away with that.
